EEI GO is an internal-use-only application for EEI personnel and is operated by EEI, headquartered in Illinois, USA. The App is designed primarily to support EEI operations, including work-related travel and projects, and may be used by employees while traveling for EEI business. By using the App, you acknowledge that your use is subject to this Privacy Policy, applicable U.S. and Illinois laws, and any additional local laws that may apply where you perform EEI work.
The App supports EEI's field operations, including capturing project documentation, photos, and contextual information; synchronizing content to EEI-managed systems; and enabling secure access for authorized employees.
2. Scope and Audience
- Internal Use: The App is available only to EEI employees and authorized personnel. It is not for public or consumer use.
- Geographic Scope: EEI is headquartered in Illinois. The App supports EEI operations and may be used by employees while traveling for EEI business or as EEI expands operations. When used outside Illinois, the App remains subject to this Policy and applicable local laws; EEI will provide region-specific notices where required.
3. What Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information from or about users, depending on the features you use.
Account and Authentication Information
- Identity and access credentials (e.g., tokens and expiration times) issued by EEI's enterprise identity platform to facilitate sign-in and App requests. These are stored securely on-device.
- Basic user profile information provided by EEI's identity system (e.g., user identifier, display name, business email, job title, department, office location) for in-app display, audit association, and access control.
Device Permissions and Related Data (only if granted)
- Location (foreground): GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) to annotate field activity, pre-fill forms, and fetch context such as weather and reverse geocoding. The App does not implement continuous background location tracking.
- Camera and Photos: Photos captured from the device camera or selected from the photo library for field documentation and project reports including all meta data and GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) associated with said photos.
- Microphone (optional): Audio recordings for voice notes, if this feature is used.
- Biometrics (iOS/Android): System prompts (e.g., Face/Touch ID) that the operating system may use to unlock secure storage or authenticate actions. The App does not receive or store biometric templates.
Usage, Diagnostics, and Analytics
- Crash/error diagnostics and application telemetry (non-sensitive) used to improve stability and support, such as error messages, stack traces, app version, environment details, and event context.
- Interaction analytics to understand feature adoption and performance (non-sensitive). These are configured to avoid collecting sensitive content.
Project and Operational Data
- Project references and metadata, including project identifiers and related cached project entries for offline use. EEI's project management source is treated as read-only.
- Field artifacts and metadata, including photos, captions, timestamps, optional tags, local file paths, context data (e.g., weather and GPS), references to stored documents, and synchronization status.
4. How We Collect Information
- Directly from you: When you sign in with your EEI account; capture or upload photos; attach files; or record audio; and when you enable permissions (e.g., location, camera, microphone).
- Automatically: When the App requests device location for mapping and weather features; sends crash reports or non-sensitive diagnostics; or caches data locally to support offline features.
- From EEI systems and APIs: When synchronizing with EEI-managed application databases, document management, and related services.
5. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Authenticate and authorize employee access using EEI's identity platform.
- Enable core field workflows (e.g., capturing photos, associating location and weather, attaching to project reports) and synchronize content to EEI-managed systems.
- Provide offline-first capabilities via local device storage (including secure storage for sensitive credentials and local databases for operational data).
- Improve reliability, security, and user experience through diagnostics, error reporting, and usage analytics configured with data minimization controls.
- Fulfill legal, safety, and compliance obligations applicable to EEI's operations.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosures
We do not sell personal information. We disclose information to:
- EEI Systems and Service Providers: EEI-managed infrastructure and vetted service providers that support the App's functionality (e.g., identity, document storage, application databases, mapping/weather services, diagnostics, and analytics). Access is limited to what is necessary to operate the App. We require our service providers to comply with applicable platform policies, including Google Play Developer Policies, when relevant.
- Legal and Compliance: If required by law, regulation, or to protect EEI's rights, we may disclose information to law enforcement or regulators or pursuant to a validly issued subpoena in a lawsuit, whether criminal or civil.
7. Data Retention
- On-Device: Authentication credentials are stored in secure storage and retained while valid or until sign-out. Operational data (e.g., photos, form data, and context) may be cached in a local database for offline use and synchronized when connectivity is available. Local caches are refreshed or cleared according to operational needs.
- EEI Systems: Content and metadata stored in EEI-managed systems are retained in accordance with EEI's data retention schedules and operational requirements. Retention periods may vary by record type, project, or legal requirements.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including:
- Platform-secure storage for sensitive credentials.
- Transport security (HTTPS/TLS) for all communications with EEI-managed endpoints and trusted processors.
- Role-based access, least-privilege principles, and environment-specific configurations.
- Diagnostics and analytics tools configured to avoid capturing sensitive payloads and to minimize IP and personal data collection where possible.
9. Your Choices and Controls
- Permissions: You may grant or deny permissions for location, camera/photos, and microphone. Some features may not function without the relevant permission. You can change permissions in your device settings.
- Sign Out: You may sign out at any time, which clears credentials from secure storage and may remove certain cached data from the device.
- Access and Correction: For corrections to your employee profile or project data, contact EEI IT or your supervisor. App data reflects EEI's authoritative systems and records management policies.
10. Third-Party Services and Processors
EEI uses service providers and processors to operate the App. These services receive only the information necessary to perform their functions, and are bound by contractual and security obligations. Categories include:
- Identity and Access Management Provider: Issues and validates credentials; provides basic user attributes to support secure access and auditing.
